Frequently Asked Questions
This page of the website will hopefully provide you with the answers to any queries you may have about how to effectively use it.
We will constantly be adding to this page as we get new questions from customers, so if you do have any queries and they are not answered with the FAQs then please call 0845 519 1790 or email enquiries@expertlectures.com
1. How do I view the presentations?
All of the online presentations are delivered using Flash video (.flv files). These files are compatible with all Internet browsers and operating systems (96% of online users can view flash videos online without any issues). This means that the presentations can be viewed on both PCs and Macs. When you first attempt to view a presentation or a preview clip on the website, if you haven't got all of the components to view it properly then you will be directed to the adobe website where you can download the free software that will allow you to view all of the presentations without having to do this again.
Should you have flash player installed but still not be able to view the presentations then this may be down to your network settings. We would suggest you contact your IT manager or ISP to get this issue resolved.
If, when playing the presentations, the playback becomes stuttered then please follow these steps:
- ensure you are still connected to the Internet
- close down all other programs on your computer that are not in use
- pause the presentation and allow the white bar at the bottom to fully load
- check in the task manager of your computer to see what applications may be running and causing your computer to not allow the presentations to run properly
2. As well as the video, what other information do I get with the presentations?
In order to enhance your viewing experience, with each presentation you are given the opportunity to download all of the course materials associated with that particular lecture. These might include slides, detailed notes, case studies, spreadsheets and further reading. You may need to install the software to be able to view these, but in the majority of cases these will be standard Word, Excel or PDF documents and should open with your existing software.
3. How long can I have access to a presentation for and how many times can I view it?
Before you purchase a presentation you will be able to see how long you have to view this for before it expires and you no longer have access to it from your account. You are allowed to view the presentation as many times as you require during the period that it is available for. The website records your usage and shows how much of the presentation you have viewed so that you are able to keep track of this yourself.
4. Does every presentation have a test and do I have to take it?
Some presentations do have tests so that you can show that you have gained some understanding of the content provided. You do not have to undertake the test for the benefit of Expert Lectures. It exists as a further tool to allow you to demonstrate to your employer or professional body that you have undertaken the training and gained a test result. Not all presentations have a test, and your usage is monitored and can be used as evidence that you have completed that course.
5. How do I get a certificate?
Depending on whether there is a test or not, you will be able to download a certificate of completion either once the test has been undertaken or at any point at which you feel you have viewed enough of the presentation to warrant it being completed. The certificates will be available to download via your account and it will show your test result (if applicable) and your usage at that point as well as your name, company name and email address as verification.
6. How do I pay for presentations?
The website allows you to pay by debit/credit cards securely online. Expert Lectures has a Secure Sockets Layer licence and all transactions are handled by Sagepay (for further information please visit www.sagepay.com). Once you have made a payment you will be given access to your presentation straightaway and you will be emailed an invoice for your records. If for any reason there are any issues with the payment process, please email enquiries@expertlectures.com.
7. I have a promotional code, what do I do with it?
From time to time, Expert Lectures may provide you with promotional codes that give you a discount off the listed price of a course or series of courses on the website. If you have a code and want to use it to make a purchase then you can enter the code when prompted on the presentation page on the website. If the code is correct then the price will be updated with the discounted price prior to you completing the payment process.
8. There may be several people within my organisation who would like to view presentations, could we get a group rate?
It may be possible for Expert Lectures to provide group access to presentations at an agreed rate. Each user would be given their own username and password to access their account and the agreed presentations would be added to it. For further details on group rates please email enquiries@expertlectures.com.
9. I have forgotten my password, what do I do?
Within the site there is a facility to request your password by automated email. Please use this if you do ever lose your password. For any other queries please contact us via email or by calling 0845 519 1790
10. My details have changed or I don't want to be contacted any more by Expert Lectures, what do I do?
